Domaine des Montarels is a luxury former monastery situated in the South of France, perfectly marrying the magic and charm of an ancient era with newly refurbished modern living. The sumptuously furnished bedrooms are all air-conditioned for a quiet, cool night’s sleep and the living accommodation is spacious and elegant with many thoughtful additions to ensure your comfort.
The garden benefits from a large, private pool with sunbeds for all, or a shaded Moroccan style lounging area with BBQ. From here, you will have magnificent views over miles of vineyards as you sip your aperitifs whilst watching the sun set over Les Montagnes Noires.
The ground floor is entirely open plan divided by fabulous stone arches. There is an extremely spacious sitting room, hallway, dining room and brand new fitted kitchen, all with character features such as old tiles, exposed beams and long windows throughout. There are two cloakrooms (one external for outside living).

Domaine des Montarels sleeps 10 and has 5 large bedrooms. There are 3 with king-size beds and 2 with superking-size beds, of which the latter can be twin beds if desired. Three of the king-size bedrooms are ensuite and there is a family bathroom. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and luxuriously furnished for maximum comfort and all beds are dressed in the finest English linen.

Row upon row of vines stretching in every direction and scattered with hundreds of small vignerons, large Châteaux and Domaines and village collectives known as Cave Co-operatives, most of whom are very happy to welcome visitors to taste and buy their wines.
Beautiful Beaches
There are 4 main beaches near Beziers: Portirangues Plage, Serignan Plage, Valras Plage and Vias Plage.
All of these Beziers beaches can be reached in 20 mins and have fantastic beach bars and restaurants overlooking them.
However, Ian and Katie can also let you into some local knowledge and help you find the hidden gems; those places we like to keep sacred…………..
Historic sites
You definitely need to climb the bell tower in Cathedrale Saint-Nazaire de Beziers. It’s quite a hike but the views at the top are stunning, also don't miss the garden terrace off the cloisters, with stunning views there too.
Beziers is a city on the up. The last few years have seen vast improvements and wandering around the old town you will discover fantastic trompe l’oeils and cute little alleyways with fabulous boutiques and restaurants.
So easy to get to
Domaine des Montarels is a great place to be based in France for a long weekend or summer holiday. There is a TGV train station in the centre of Beziers, as well as an international airport in between Beziers and the coast. Beziers airport has regular cheap flights to the UK, Germany and Sweden (as well as Paris). Beziers is historically the capital of the wine industry in South France and the countryside is dominated by vineyards in all directions. Beziers has recently been discovered to be the oldest town in France. Archaeological research has found evidence of a settlement on the site of Beziers which dates back to before the Phoenicians and Romans arrived in the area.

Why not let us organise your own private wine tour? It can be a half-day or full day with lunch in a part of a vineyard not normally open to the public. As a result of much intense and in-depth research, Ian and Katie now have a very good knowledge of the local wines. They will take you to their favourite local vineyards where you can learn more about production or simply enjoy the many fabulous wines in a unique way. Not just part of a wine group - you will be introduced as friends for a genuine experience.

There are so many fabulous restaurants in this region. Whether it be fine dining or an authentic local experience, Herault has it all.
Once again, the Jacksons have done their research and can guide you to guaranteed dining success and places and restaurants not even found on TripAdvisor………….
Clubs
Where else would you get peacocks on the dance floor. A hidden local venue where the parking attendants are on horseback! Set in the grounds of a Chateau. Great music, tapas or restaurant dining and an overall must do experience.
